The Journal

Before the books, there was this. A blog started in 2005 by a woman in a Pennsylvania suburb who needed someplace to put her thoughts, to speak into the void: the kaapi going cold on the counter, the wait for children who had not yet arrived, the office badge, the ache for Madras in December.

I wrote about everything. God and grief, murukku and marriage, the twins learning to walk, the pregnancy that made us five, the reading at midnight, the journey to becoming myself in a country I chose. I wrote to be found, the truth is it never was.

For years these entries floated unlinked, each one an island. This page is the harbor: every thread below is listed with the post that began it, and the closers carry you onward from there.

Follow one from its first post and you will watch a life assemble in real time. Or wander. The journal does not mind.
