Watch Them Grow

My older two were toddlers when I started writing them down. Not their milestones, exactly. Something smaller: a child asleep in a patch of afternoon light, a hand that used to vanish inside mine and no longer did.

For fourteen years I kept at it. The posts here are not a record of achievements. They are something quieter: an afternoon, a pink bike outgrown, a bedroom door that began staying shut.

Read in order, they become a time-lapse. Toddlers at the top of the page, teenagers near the bottom, and me in every one of them, learning slowly to let go.

Start at the beginning if you have the afternoon. The chronology is the story.
