We reached home last Friday and are settling in slowly. The trip home was memorable in many ways. The girls were well-behaved and slept most of the way. They handled the takeoff and landing very well leaving the new parents very impressed!
Other highlights from the 2 stops 8 hour plane ride were the number of strangers walking up to us to exclaim how pretty the girls were or to ask if they were twins. One 8-year-old girl walked up to us and said you have beautiful children. We were stunned to say the least. We also had at least two people share with us that they were twins themselves. We had lots of people offer to help us with the bags, with giving up seats so we could sit. The kindness was overwhelming. For once we did get to board ahead of other people. It was bittersweet.
Once we got home, we had a traditional welcome from family and friends. The girls warmed up to everyone who was home. Over the two days, they have gotten comfortable and are now exploring their new home. Its been a fun but backbreaking ride so far.
In other news, today is my first day home alone with the kids. I had imagined this day for many years. In reality, grass is greener on the other side. ;p
