Updates

Hi!

If you are old reader of the blog, you probably noticed a few changes here on the blog and on the Facebook page. Here are a few updates from my end.

  1. I signed up for NaNoWriMo on an whim this year. It is mid way and I am close to 25K words on my novella. If you are participating, look me up. I am liyer on there.
  2. For years I have been toying with the idea of writing. Having started to write, I realize it is way harder than anything I have done so far.
  3. I started out thinking what I am writing will be a sweet story of closure and filled with beautiful prose. What it is right now is a cliche ridden piece full of repeated phrases and a monotonous voice not to mention tense confusion and typos. I have no idea how I am going to fix it.
  4. I am determined to see it to the end simply because once I have it behind me, I can check it off my bucket list and determine the course going forward.
  5. To that end, I have changed my domain to reflect how I see myself for the next year or so. If you see any links broken, please let me know.
  6. If you are an editor, publisher or anyone who knows something about writing and publishing books, please share any insights that may help.
  7. Once I have a fairly polished manuscript, I will be looking for beta readers. Please contact me if you have the time and the willingness to help.

Thank you much!

L. G. Iyer

PS: Trying out my new moniker 😉

  1. Lakshmi, I offer to be your beta reader.

  2. Good luck.
I know how difficult writing fiction is. I tried my hand at it and gave it up as a bad job, not because I couldn’t do it, but because it made me emotionally unstable – writing a novel is an emotional experience, and I didn’t like it that it made me hypersensitive. it is on my bucket list though. Someday, when i can learn to delink my emotions from what I write, maybe I will. But I don’t know if such delinking won’t result in pretentious writing.
That aside, with that kinda moniker, you couldn’t go wrong, can you ?

    1. Thank you for sharing this. I do feel very emotional and personal about what I have written. I haven’t gathered courage to read what I have written in full yet.

      LOL on the moniker. 😃

  3. Not sure what a beta reader is but I’m happy to read through and help with proof-reading 🙂

    1. Will ping you when I am ready. Thank you much.

  4. Congratulations on the endeavor you have embarked upon. Remember that a journey to anywhere starts with a single step. I think initiative is what matters the most. I cannot even imagine how you are doing all this alongside running a family of 3 kids!! You are doing great. I wish you the very best in your journey as a writer and look forward to reading more from you 🙂

    1. Thank you! I can’t imagine that I actually came up with about 130 pages if stuff! Feeling chuffed. 😃
