Milestone: First Commissioned Piece – Verve India

In May of this year, the Editorial Director for Verve Magazine reached out to commission a piece for their Entertainment issue. We went back and forth over email before finally honing in on a topic we were both happy with. For the first time, I wrote, set the piece aside, edited and sent it out. More rounds of editing followed and then months of waiting until the piece went to print a couple of days ago. Today, the article is live on their website.

I am thrilled with the illustration and the sight of my name in print. Dreams truly come true albeit decades later.

I’d love to hear your comments.

  1. Loved it! You are such a great writer, it is very insightful. My Mother grew up without a mother, but had lots of “mothers” growing up. And always felt gratitude for having women that loved her. NOw, at 87 years old, her half siblings and cousins (and Us,too) are so grateful to have her.It must be so hard for you about the “openness” in the adoption process with your children. I always want to hear about them growing up and how it has changed you. Thank you! PS. BTW Just watch about Traces of Sandalwood, about adoption in India. A very different take, on the piti and gratitude view.
