Names. Naming.

Saying it aloud!

… the thoughts I usually don’t.

I have always been curious about names. Why things and people have the names they do? Are their names reminiscent of something else? Do they have a muse? Do they have meaning?

So, when it came time to christen my blog, a fair bit of thought went into it. I mulled over what I wanted my blog to represent. I realized the persona I have on the blog is much different from my real life person. I am much more vocal, much less prone to being shy here. I can get sappy, be verbose, get sentimental, be critical, express angst, shed virtual tears without being encumbered by the mechanics of how to do it.

Thus was born ‘Saying it aloud… the thoughts I usually don’t’. The blog URL is a play on the same words as well.

But, as I got thinking about the name and the tagline, I realize that over the years, the habit of talking about things out loud has seeped into my everyday life. I am comfortable with expressing and accepting affection these days. I have learned to speak my mind when something is not OK with me. I have also learned to be OK with silences.

Perhaps then, a change in title is in order? You tell me.

  1. I like the title, but maybe the tagline doesn’t fit anymore. Maybe it’s time to re-consider why you blog? It sounds like originally it was a space for you to feel confident doing something you didn’t feel comfortable doing in “real life.” So what keeps you around? What keeps you blogging? Maybe, “Voicing aloud… Exploring the Full Range of Expression” or something else that echoes/ emphasizes the line where you wrote “I can get sappy, be verbose, get sentimental, be critical, express angst, shed virtual tears without being encumbered by the mechanics of how to do it” since it sounds like that’s a big part of why you blog.

Just some ideas, take or leave as feels right! 🙂

  2. It is encouraging to hear that blogging for years have boosted your confidence in speaking up in your everyday life as well, as I am hoping to have that too! I guess blogging does help us express oneself better, seeing and reflecting our train of thought. Keep on blogging! 😉 xx

  3. What’s in a name? A rose by any other name still smells sweet :). This is your space and a way you connect. If you think it is time to change names go on ahead. Though I would say most readers would have related to this for a while now. From musings to saying out loud to what next also makes me curious 🙂 whatever the name/ tag line your readers are hooked. Just keep posting
