Possibilities

It was past dinner. I made my rounds of the house letting down blinds and locking doors. Even as I pulled at the cord that cascaded the pale green shades, I noticed lights blinking in the house across the road. I watched as a silhouette moved letting blinds down. We have new neighbors I almost yelled.

I lingered at the window and the door peeking and hoping. These are people we could be friends with over the next decade. Our children could grow up with theirs if they had kids. The world of possibilities loomed. Patio parties, trick or treating and general comradeship that comes from sharing the neighborhood.

Time will tell. In the meanwhile, I wonder if I should stop by with a box of treats to welcome them to their new home. Hmm!

If this moved you, send a tip.
