Every year UL family and ours make a trip to the temple followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant. There is nothing fancy or splashy about our temple or restaurant choice, yet every year I look forward to this simple ritual. An offering of thanks to the almighty for the blessings we have and a dinner to celebrate the special tie that binds us. Some years it was just the four of us reliving our wedding day and the unique ways in which we are connected. The past few years, little M is there and her bright eyes and lively chatter adds spice to the evening. Every year we take a picture in front of the temple. A kind of marker of the years behind us.
This year we are yet to enjoy this special celebration but I am excited just thinking about it. For the first time we will have little Kay and Cee with us. To me it is a significant reminder of the blessing I had sought year after year at the temple. Every year I would send a wish heavenward asking to be back at the temple the next year with a little bundle. Not that I really thought it would happen but this year when I am in front of that little idol, I will be saying thanks instead.
And realizing something far more important, namely that faith is something I may question occasionally but there it is, rooted inside, swaying with my wavering thoughts never once leaving me.
