Lakshmi Iyer’s favorite memories of her childhood involve reading under a lamp in a tiny kitchen when the rest of her family were asleep. She devoured books because every book was a portal to a world she had not explored before. She grew up to become a software engineer working on banking applications. In her free time, she wrote the stories she wished her children would read.

She went back to school to earn a Certificate in Creative Writing from Simon Fraser University in her forties and followed that up with a summer session at the Yale Writers Workshop. She hopes to someday write books for adults featuring women like her.

Iyer has a children’s book coming out in the summer of 2020 titled “Why Is My Hair Curly?” from Red Panda (a Westland Publications/Amazon company) in India.

A mother by adoption and biology, she resides with her husband and children in the Northeast US. An analyst by profession, she spends her free time pondering life and writing on her blog.
