A Note Of Thanks

A little over a year and a half before, I wrote a passionate plea to help someone in need. I called her Shakthi on the blog. A lot of you wrote back, sent money, gift cards and a whole lot of good wishes.

Today I am happy to report she is thriving and officially divorced. She is free to move on with her life with her children. She is gainfully employed and a lot more confident than when I first met her. Most of all, she is out there, a survivor finding her place on this earth, leading the best life she can lead. This is not to say the struggles are over or that the journey is smooth, just a moment to recognize what community and collective goodwill can do.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank each one of you who responded in small ways and big, in person and in spirit.

Here is a note from Shakthi to all of you:

One day, I just couldn’t think of anybody to thank. The list went on and on. I am fortunate to have help and support throughout the traumatic process. This is really kind of a great gift by God sending you all my way because life would not be this meaningful to receive and give back. These days and age of impersonal relationships, things we write or say are so easily deleted and forgotten. But this help and support chapter has become a part of my life which I will cherish life long and be grateful for. I am moved by how many people have saved my kids and me in several ways, food, clothes, finance, drive, car, phone, job, time and effort, counseling, therapy……again the list goes on. Words just cannot express how grateful I am for all the kindness and generosity.  Its the time where I will be passing this good deed over to as many as I can and in as many ways as I can.

  1. Yay to Shakthi’s resilience and reinventing herself. Kudos to you for rallying the troops and enabling it. Wishing Shakthi the very best that life has to offer.
