That’s right! About three hours from now, we will officially be in the fall season here this side of the globe. There is something solid and reassuring about knowing the exact date and time of the change. For days now, I have been ignoring the dry patches on my leg. Body lotion was for fall. Not for summer. At least in my mind. Last Friday when I was out with the gals, I had to take my jacket along just in case. It turned out that I needed it after all.
The little changes that I have been noticing for a couple of weeks finally makes sense. The tinge of color in the otherwise dark green foliage in my back yard. The darkness outside when my alarm goes off at an unearthly hour. The crisp chillness in the air as we pull out each morning to head to work. The lingering glances I shoot at my sandals for it is time to switch over to shoes. The long sleeved tops I had to pull out of the other closet. The chapped lips when I wake up in the morning.
I love fall. I love the delicious chillness in the air. Enough to make me want to pull a shawl over. Not enough to haul sweaters out. I love the falling leaves. I love the color around me. I love the deep blue skies. I love that it means a new wardrobe.
So folks, while I watch for 11:44 AM this morning to ring in fall, I hope you have a lovely week ahead.
