I heard from a friend after 15 years yesterday. We went to school together. Though we knew each other we weren’t exactly in the same circle of friends. She was the studious A grade types and hung out with like people. The mediocre me hung out with a different circle. As we finished school and went on to establish our careers, I usually kept up with what the others in our class were doing through common friends.

So, yesterday when she called and said “Hey! its D here.” I mistook her for someone else and went on to talk about MBA prep. She interjected with “Remember me from school?” Oh! boy!! that brought back a flood of memories. We were on the phone for almost an hour. Talking about the guy who was the PT master’s son or the class topper and the one who stayed next door to the school campus. We went on to relive memories of the teachers we had and the parallel lives we led.

When I hung up, I felt excited and energized. Thoughts bounced and collided in my brain. I was eager to find out what the others who studied with me were up to. If they lived up to their reputations in class. If they retained the playfulness they exhibited in class. If they went on to become engineers and artists as their early talents predicted.

So, if you are one of the set of people who went to school with me and wander in here and read this post anytime. Drop a note. Would love to hear from you.
